China's first mass production line for carbon fiber automotive wheels goes into operation, contributing to the upgrading of automotive lightweighting.

Recently, China's first production line with an annual capacity of 10,000 carbon fiber automotive wheels officially commenced operation in Ninghai, Ningbo. This marks a significant leap from laboratory to industrialization in my country's field of key carbon fiber composite automotive components, injecting new momentum into the lightweighting upgrade of the automotive industry.

According to the head of the company, the production line is entirely self-controlled, and the products are made of high-grade carbon fiber materials, reducing weight by 30%-40% compared to traditional aluminum alloy wheels. National authoritative testing has shown that they achieve industry-leading levels in core performance aspects such as strength and corrosion resistance. Real-world testing data shows that new energy vehicles equipped with these carbon fiber wheels can increase their range by 5%-8%, improve handling by 20%, and effectively reduce unsprung mass, enhancing driving smoothness. At the launch event, the company also signed an agreement with a university to jointly establish a postdoctoral research station, deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research, and promoting technological iteration and upgrading.

Industry insiders point out that carbon fiber wheels were previously mainly used in high-end sports cars. The commencement of this mass production line breaks the technological monopoly and promotes their widespread adoption in mid-to-high-end civilian vehicles. As costs gradually decrease and processes mature, the application of carbon fiber materials in automotive battery boxes, chassis, drive shafts, and other components will be further expanded, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape of the global automotive parts industry and providing strong support for my country to achieve its "dual carbon" goals.
